Updating a Public Fixture

The State of Iowa needed a construction partner capable of providing comprehensive Construction Management services as part of an overall team. They chose The Hansen Company, Inc., who joint ventured with the Christman Company from Michigan, for their expertise in historic renovation.

Operation Bold Move is a massive project involving the renovation of both the Lucas and Old State Historical Buildings.

Work on the Lucas State Office Building is being completed while the facility is occupied. Exterior work includes cleaning and repair of stone material as well as window and spandrel caulking.

New heating, cooling and life safety systems are being installed in the building interior as well as retrofitting it for complete ADA compliance. Another element of the Lucas Building restoration will be updating the underground tunnel to the Iowa State Capitol.
