About the project
Molengracht, a Dutch expression for a mill canal, is one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken in the state of Iowa. It is a beautiful destination for thousands of visitors every year that attend the Tulip Festival as well as those who routinely visit Pella for its history, culture, shopping, dining, entertainment and charm.
This 113,000 square foot mixed use development is comprised of five buildings featuring a clock tower and a replication of an authentic Dutch canal. It’s organized around an open plaza concept which includes retail, commercial office space, a hotel, movie theater, bank and residential condominiums. An underground precast concrete parking structure was constructed below three of the five buildings.
The Hansen Company also completed many of the tenant improvements including the Royal Amsterdam Hotel and Grand Cafe, Pella Cinema, Pella State Bank, and the high end residential units. We are very proud of this project and our involvement in making Pella an even better place to work, live and play.
