East
Village Place project consists of three buildings; a five
story mixed use building, a two story retail and residential
building, and a 200+/- stall parking ramp all of which are
located at the 500 block between East Locust Street and East
Walnut Street in the Downtown East Village of Des Moines, Iowa.
The Mixed-Use Building – Village Place is a five story
mixed use building covering an approximate foot print of 7600
gross square feet. A below ground parking garage, accessible
from the lower level of the adjacent parking ramp is designated
for the residential tenants. Each space throughout this five
story building will be built to meet the specific needs and
desires of each tenant. The entire building is approximately
seventy four feet tall and is designed to contribute to the
historical heritage evident in the East Village. The north,
west, and south facades showcase this area’s historical
precedent with large single-hung windows, ornate window trim,
a timeless selection of building materials, historically sound
building massing, and other traditional detailing. Both buildings
are representing architecture and design of the downtown East
Village. The Retail/Residential Building is named Oxford
Row. The front of this retail and residential building opens
up to East 6th Street and the back of this building is adjacent
to the parking ramp allowing access to parking for the residential
tenants of this building. The design of each retail and residential
space contributes to an eclectic façade of units contributing
to a whole building that also finds its roots in the historical
precedent of the East Village.
